"Bonjour" - This is a new shell for Windows95. I do not know of any analogous programs.
"Bonjour" hides the standard desktop of Win95. In the "Bonjour" workspace, you can place
any number of buttons or pictures. These objects can have any form or dimensions. Buttons
can each have four pictures for different states, and respond on movements or clicks.
All objects can run external programs or internal shell commands. The number of forms
(screens) can range from 1 to 999. Any screen object can be set to switch from one form
to another. Using "Bonjour", you can build any interface for your computer. All settings
and pictures are stored in a database file; a database editor is included with the program.
You can even make more than one database and use objects with links to go from one database
to another! The writing of "Bonjour" is not finished (it is still "beta" software).
INSTALLATION
_____________________________________________________________________________
Attention! You must choose Custom installation from installation dialogue.
Two other items do not work. If you have BDE (Borland Database Engine) on computer,
you can deselect bde option in Custom Install Dialogue.

Below I shortly state basic principles of work with this thing.
For work with "Bonjour" recomended computer with Pentium-100 or better processor,
RAM 16Mb or higher and videocard with HighColor or TrueColor mode.
The program and basic base "runic.db" must be placed in one catalogue.
The other connected bases can be placed on any disk.
The start of the external programs and internal commands is made by one click.
For creation of the new button it is possible:
-to drag a file from Explorer into workspace;
-to select menu item "New";
-to fill all fields in Bonjour Base Editor.
The buttons can be of the following types:
kb0, ke0 - normal button with one picture;
ke1 - button which forms at dragging of a file into the workspace (very green and round);
ke2 - button with 2 pictures (first for the basic state, second for displays of reaction
on mouse moving);
ke5 - that as previous, but with mask allowing to create not rectangular buttons;
ke4 - button with the text;
You can use any number of background pictures and daughter forms.
The forms can be showed at the screen or clicking on the button, or moving of the cursor
above this button.
The creation of the form is possible only in "Bonjour Base Editor", where it is necessary
correctly to specify all parameters.
The forms are of 4 types:
f00 - opaque form (hide when cursor go out this form);
f01 - transparent form (hide when cursor go out this form);
f02 - opaque form (hide when you click out this form);
f03 - transparent form (hide when you click out this form);
If to choose colour of the transparent form black - then workspace of this form will be invisible.
For show of the form it is necessary in "File" field of the "Bonjour Base Editor" to write
a string as follows: " $001α " - where 3 digits after "$" - number of the necessary form,
and the last symbol - when to show the form: "a" - moving of the cursor above a button,"b" -
click on the button.
For pictures are available the following types:
pe0, pb0 - normal pictures (second symbol may be in diapason 0...f);
pe3, pb3 - pictures loading from a BMP, JPG, GIF, TGA, PCX -files (filename is specified
in a ''File" field);
pe4, pb4 - text.
Attention!
All configuration of a working table is stored in database Runic.DB, which can be edited by
standard tools of firm BORLAND: Paradox or DatabaseDesktop. It is very easy to destroy
database because it is no any protection of this base.
The basic trouble, which I have some times is a replacement or removal of the first record
in base, that contain parameters of the main window of program.
One more large problem - swelling base at often creation and removal big objects.
It is necessary to compress base sometimes, with the help of the Borland editors or
with help of TablePack.exe program. This program I shall place on site in pack.zip file.
